What Will You Leave Behind?

The Beginning of a Legacy

Mission
To ensure permanent support for Kincaid Elementary by Kincaid Families who have attended Kincaid Elementary and wish to leave a gift to continually support our teachers and staff and ensure they have what they need to support the mission of Kincaid. This fund is constantly renewing itself, adding to itself and its benefits extend beyond the measurable.

Purpose
The Kincaid Elementary Legacy Fund represents a commitment by Kincaid Families to further their support of Kincaid Elementary beyond their years at Kincaid. The donations made to this fund provide ongoing support for years to come.  Once built, the interest from this fund can be used for purchases and the fund can continue to grow for years to come.

What the Legacy Fund is NOT
This is NOT a fund to buy basketball goals, park benches, trees, etc. This is a way of saying thank you, providing much needed support for our teachers to invest in their curriculum, classroom and students.

Legacy Donors
Gifts made to the Kincaid Legacy Fund come from those families (or individuals) who are invested in Kincaid and our community and who are leaving Kincaid Elementary. Donors can leave generous gifts in honor of students who are graduating or who have graduated from Kincaid and be recognized likewise. Legacy Donors will have the understanding that investing in Kincaid means investing in our community for years to come. Donors can be Kincaid Elementary Founding Legacy Fund Donors, Kincaid Elementary Legacy Fund Donors, Contributing Donors or contributors.

How is supporting The Legacy Fund different from supporting the Kincaid Foundation?
This fund will be set aside specifically for teacher “grants” and teacher needs. This fund alleviates the Teacher Grants from the Kincaid Foundation umbrella so that the Foundation may fundraise to more support their mission while the Legacy Fund can grow and continually help meet the needs of changing teacher requirements.  This fund will only be comprised of Legacy Donations left behind by graduating Kincaid families. To be a Legacy Donor is different from being a Kincaid Foundation Donor.

How does the Kincaid Foundation support the Legacy Fund?
The Legacy Fund will fall under the Kincaid Foundation for accounting and maintenance purposes. The Kincaid Foundation has agreed to open a separate, permanent account only for the Legacy Fund. In addition, The Legacy Fund will require a chair every year to work with the Foundation and a committee to promote and maintain it. A small committee (ideally 5th grade parents) comprised of at least ONE Foundation member, should be committed to its fundraising, accounting procedures, database maintenance, its grant process, and its donor benefits each year. The committee chair will report directly to the Kincaid Foundation Board of Directors.

The Building of a Legacy

Introducing The Kincaid Elementary Legacy Wall
Kincaid Elementary has donated the very large wall to the right of the main doors to become our Kincaid Elementary Legacy Wall. This wall will be a testament to the investment of families into Kincaid. Anyone who walks in the school from this year forward will know that families support our school and our teachers first and foremost. Visitors will see that the unity between our families and schools run deep and will allow all who enter to know that our teachers support our families and our families support our teachers. Kincaid has never given this amount of space to an endeavor before which is a true indication of the excitement building for the Legacy Fund.

Introducing The Kincaid Elementary Legacy Fund to Kincaid
The Staff at Kincaid, along with the PTA, have agreed to give the Legacy Fund “air time” at the Teacher Appreciation Luncheon. If we can reach our financial goals this year, we will be creating a video of families and students personally thanking teachers for all they have done for our children and introducing the Legacy Fund to ALL of Kincaid. It is our hope that this becomes tradition at the TAL and each year we announce how much money we have raised in thanks to our staff. It is our vision that all Legacy Donors and Contributing Donors take part in this video each year.

The Legacy Begins With a Gift
To build a Fund, money has to be raised. For the Fund to TRULY make a difference, the Fund needs to be sizable. A Kincaid Elementary Legacy Fund Donor will be asked to donate a minimum of $1,000. A Contributing Donor will be asked to donate a minimum of $500. We will also give the opportunity for all 5th grade families to donate a brick to help build the Legacy Fund.

Watch the Legacy Fund Grow
The Goal is to have sizeable donations each year to impact Kincaid immediately that year, while saving each year so that the Fund truly does perpetuate. Currently, the Legacy Fund will make 60% of the Funds raised immediately available with 40% staying in the fund. At the end of each fundraising season, another 60% will be made available. For example, our goal is to begin our Fund with $10,000 this year. That means $6,000 will be readily available for teacher use, and $4,000 will be set back for next year. Next year, if we raise another $10,000, we will have a total of $14,000 so $8,400 will be readily available. While $5,600 stays back for the following year and so on each year. This ensures that your donation truly lives on and continues to make a difference at Kincaid.

Your Family’s Legacy

Once your family leaves Kincaid Elementary, the needs don’t stop. Moving away and growing your family keeps you out of the inner workings of Kincaid, but your Legacy can live on and each year you can keep giving to our teachers, staff members, future students and our community. Every year, as teachers and families pass by the Kincaid Elementary Legacy Wall, your name will be there showing your appreciation for what our school has invested into your child.
