At the beginning of the 2011 school year, the Kincaid Elementary Foundation opened the school’s new Science Lab. Located in the hallway near the third-grade classrooms, the Lab is completely family funded and benefits every student from kindergarten through fifth grade. In the Science Lab, students perform hands-on experiments and gain a better understanding of the scientific world.

In 2012, thanks to family contributions, the Foundation hired Bridget Nastasi, a science teacher who works part-time in the Lab. Mrs. Nastasi is married and the mother of 12-year-old triplets (two girls and one boy). She lives in East Cobb and her children attend Mabry Middle School. Her family also includes one dog and two cats. Mrs. Nastasi enjoys vacationing at the beach, running, working in her yard, and traveling to new places.

She grew up in Pennsylvania and lived in Louisville, Kentucky, and northern New Jersey before moving here eight years ago. She has a Master of Arts in Teaching. Before her triplets were born, she taught high school biology and general science. Most recently, she has worked as a substitute science instructor at Murdock Elementary and as an instructor for High Touch High Tech.

Science Lab Expands Outside

Thanks to Ms. Nastasi and a group of dedicated volunteers, we’re creating a science garden to be an extension of our Science Lab. The garden will be used by students and teachers for hands-on experiments involving nature, biology, meteorology, and the environment.

Garden Party: Celebrating Science

Congratulations to Mrs. Glass/Mrs. Tenisci’s kindergarten class for winning the Mad About Science classroom contest with the highest percent participation.  Students and parents in Mrs. Glass/Mrs. Tenisci’s class celebrated at a lunchtime garden party that included some fun science experiments lead by our very own science lab teacher, Mrs. Nastasi.  The Mad About Science classroom contest raised $2990 for Kincaid’s science lab and science teacher.
